History

Leaders of the Japanese Association were responsible for the purchase of a cemetery to place deceased members of the community. That organization became Nikkei Jin Kai or the Japanese Ancestral Society after World War II.

When special needs arose, the Japanese Ancestral Society was the community leader making decisions and assuming responsibility for the cemetery. This location became surrounded by Rose City Cemetery. In order to access the space, we have been granted access by Rose City Cemetery to travel to our location. After many years, the ownership of the cemetery came into question. In 2005, the Japanese Ancestral Society became the title holder. Today the Japanese Ancestral Society administers an endowment to ensure that the cemetery is kept safe for families who come to honor their forebears.
